Hey everyone!
I recently got a dog (well like 4 months ago) named Sam. He was found in front of a school, starving and homeless. Animal Control got a hold of him and put him into the local shelter. Another agency called "Second Chance Dog Rescue" picked him from the shelter and gave him to a foster parent. Through very strange (yet lucky) coincidences, we found Sam with the foster parent and fell in love with him right away. He is my favorite dog in the world! And here is ten things about him:
1. We're not really sure about his breed. Being that he was stranded, we've been having to take guesses. So we think he is Lhasa Apso, Maltese and/or Shitzu or a combination of either of those.
2. When we first got him, the shelter registered his name as "Clancy". Although this might be great for some dogs, our family thought that the name "Sam" fitted him much better.
3. He LOVES to eat. He will eat pretty much anything. His favorite treats are bananas! Whenever I go to my grandma's house she has to put up her dogs' food bowls because he will eat all of their food.
4. His fur (hair) is so hard to take care of! I will brush it one day and find a brand new mat the next. We have to bathe him at least 2 times a week to keep him clean because the dirt sticks to his hair so much.
5. He has his precious babies, as we like to call them. My brother had some old Webkinz that he didn't use anymore up on a high shelf. One day we came home and he had all of them in a line. He would put one in his mouth and walk around, set it down somewhere then start licking it. It was THE cutest thing ever. He has never tore one apart nor lose one. To this day you can find him with one in his mouth.
6. He will bark at the slightest sound (my fingers popping) but he will sleep through a 7.1 earthquake (he really did). If our upstairs neighbor steps a little harder on the ground in the middle of the night, Sam will bark his little head off! But so far he has slept through about 4 earthquakes!
7. He is scared of... oh no please! Not those evil, evil... babies! Babies? Yeah and toddlers also. He will hide behind my legs if he sees one and make a point to not let them touch him. But he can run up to a Mastif and start sniffing his butt!
8. He gets those under-eye purple stains! They are such a pain :P But I guess they give him character.
9. When we got him he was only 14 pounds, which is really tiny for his size. You could see his ribs :( But after a month he is already 20 pounds! Wheesh! Told you he loves to eat.
10. Last but not least, he knows 4 tricks that I taught him all by myself: sit, beg, shake and high five. There will be video of that probably next week :)
Here are some pictures:
He's the one on the left. He had gotten neutered from the shelter. On the right is the foster parent's dog, Bronson.
QOTP:
1. Do you have a dog? If so, what breed?
2. Do you have any remedies or products that can help the tear stain problems?

Hi, Kelly
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming over to visit my blog. I enjoyed your ten things about your dog. What a lucky creature he is, to have been rescued and to end up in your house.
I'm inclined to agree about the shih-tzu, maltese, lhasa apso breeding. Helooks like like one or more of those. My dog, Penny, is also of unknown parentage, and I did at one time think she might have lhasa apso in her. But, in the end, it doesn't matter. We just love her for herself.
